Summer vacation season is unofficially here!
Victoria Day in Canada and Memorial Day are the unofficial weekends that kick off summer.
Kids will be getting out of school soon, vacations are booked and planned, or will be soon. The weather is warming up and people are thinking about beaches, lakes, mountains, barbecues, sunshine and lots of outdoor fun activities.
Many Naturopathic Doctors tell me summer is usually a slow time for them. Patients are enjoying summer fun and not thinking about their health or their doctor unless they have a health issue they need help with.
That type of thinking is a self-fulfilling prophecy! Because when we think from past experience that “it’s summer, it’s going to be a slow season”, we tend to lift our foot off the accelerator a bit when we think about marketing, therefore patients and prospects don’t hear from us as much as normal and we prove ourselves right… it becomes a slow season!
Patient appointments go down, supplement sales go down, revenue and profits take a dip and we just accept it, it’s summer.
Let’s stop that negative thinking right now!
What if you could make summer a great, busy, fun, profitable growth season?
I’m not suggesting you work harder, I’m suggesting you work smarter by planning your summer marketing to insure prospects and patients:
- Stay engaged
- Keep booking appointments
- Attend your webinars or online programs
- Keep buying supplements
- …All summer long!
Here are ten ideas you can do now to avoid that summer slump:
- Contact your patients who are due to come in the next few months now, this week, to get them to schedule their next appointment before they get busy with their vacation plans.
- Prepare a special Pre-Vacation/ Pre-Travel treatment where patients can come in before the vacation for an energy boosting shot or IV, sell some immune building supplements, or if you offer body treatments like massage or other treatment that would be good for people before they travel. Bundle it into one package and email your patients about it.
- Offer a summer detox or weight loss plan to help them be ready to look and feel their best as they head to the beach or mountains this summer.
- Focus your blogs and social media posts on seasonal topics like healthy travel, the importance of sunscreen, how to increase stamina and build endurance for while hiking or other outdoor activities.
- Plan a webinar or video around how to plan for a healthy vacation and promote relevant supplements to buy from your online dispensary.
- If you live in a tourist destination offer a treatment that helps tourists boost their immune system or prepare for a strenuous day of hiking, biking, mountain climbing, golfing, surfing (whatever is popular in your area), create a rack card about the package and distribute it to local hotels, campsites, tourist destinations.
- If you live in a party town where people overindulge, offer a quick recovery re-hydration IV treatment and promote in local party restaurants and bars.
- What sports are popular in your area or with your audience? Create focused offers to help people enjoy or improve their favorite sports activity.
- Prepare a post vacation detox plan to help people get back on track quickly after possibly overindulging on vacation
- Create a “Healthy Summer Supplement Bundle” to promote and sell all summer long
Get creative, think about what your patients or potential patients need most to get or stay healthy this summer.
When you do some or all of these ideas, your practice, and your profits, will thrive all summer long!
