3 things I want for every Naturopathic Doctor: More Impact … More Money … More Free Time

You already know, building and running a successful Naturopathic practice is a lot of work, right?

Between seeing patients, researching health issues, keeping track of billing, managing staff (if you have them) and on top of all that you have to run the business, do the marketing, watch the financials, and juggle the bajillion tasks needed to keep things on track every week.  It can be overwhelming to say the least.

Unfortunately so many NDs who are great doctors, they opened their own practice to help more people  yet they struggle to make it all work. They struggle with marketing, they struggle with cash flow, they struggle with time management and keeping up with patient demands … and the really sad part is, for some they continue to struggle until they either run out of money or run out of energy and they burn out.

I don’t want that to happen to you.  In fact there are three things I want for you, and all NDs:

  • More Impact by reaching and helping more people
  • More Money so you and your family can enjoy life without stressing over money
  • More free time so you can do more of the things you “wish you have more time” to enjoy

I remember just 3 years ago in my own coaching practice, after 20 years as a small business coach I was approaching burnout. While I loved my clients, had a great support team, was making a reasonably good income … the excitement and challenge had gone. I was no longer passionate about running my own practice any more … I was working long hours just to keep everything going and I felt like it was becoming a “JOB” (something I never wanted to have!), I needed to make a change.

At my wife’s encouragement, I decided to take all of my own advice – like I used to do when I started 20 years ago. But as often happens with experience; we think we don’t need to do some of those things any more … “we know how to do it, we’ve been doing it this way for years”.

I looked at what I was coaching my clients to do … find a niche & go after it, find a specialty and become an expert at it, offer programs online to expand beyond your local area, only work with people who you want to work with, people who appreciate and value what you do.

Then I looked at what I was doing: I was coaching every type of small business, I was coaching them on everything from marketing to accounting to hiring and more … and to make things worse I was doing it the same way as I had been doing it for years, locally through seminars and one on one meetings in my office.  To be honest it was pretty eye opening!

I decided to change; I was going to take all of my own advice. I looked to see what clients I had helped over the years who had achieved long term success from my coaching, and who were some of my favorite clients … and to my surprise it was Naturopathic Doctors that emerged as my ideal niche. I loved working with Naturopathic Doctors, had successfully helped a number of NDs build a successful practice, some were/are still clients after several years … perfect.

I’ll never forget when I mentioned it to my long term client, Dr. Wolf ND, she said, “Colm NDs need this information and no one is teaching it to us like you do” and she agreed to help me develop a coaching practice focused on helping Naturopathic Doctors Excel in Business.

Today, I only coach Naturopathic Doctors,( yes, only NDs. Not every wellness professional under the sun, only NDs!) and train them how to build their practice by focusing on a niche, attracting quality patients both locally and online and how to retain them for the long term. I do it all online from my home office or hotel and have clients across the U.S. & Canada and a few in Europe.  I work way less hours than I used to, I am more passionate about my practice today than I was 20 years ago.  I am making considerably more income and can work from anywhere with good wi-fi while still having a greater impact with my clients.  My only regret is that I didn’t make these changes earlier!

I want the same for you. As an ND  you can make these exact same change to your practice and achieve:

  • More Impact by reaching and helping more people
  • More Money so you and your family can enjoy life without stressing over money
  • More free time so you can do more of the things you “wish you have more time” to enjoy
