Mary’s Story…
So there’s an ND in Texas, let’s call her Mary.
That’s not her real name, but we’ll call her Mary for this story to protect the successful!
Mary’s been in practice for 9 years, has built a great reputation, runs a busy practice with herself as the ND, a front desk person and a part time office manager.
She is typically booked out a week or two in advance seeing patients one at a time, four days a week from 9-5.
Mary uses Friday as her Admin/ “On the business” day. She often spends an hour or two in the evenings returning calls and emails.
About 8 months ago Mary shared with me that she was on the verge of burnout. She became a Naturopathic Doctor to help people life a more balanced, healthy lifestyle using natural solutions for health. But now she felt like she was living a lie.
While her practice was doing really well, she wasn’t.
She felt like a hamster in a wheel , getting up every day seeing as many patients as she could in as many hours as she had available. Then getting up tomorrow to do the same thing again, and again and again … and the most frustrating part was she wanted to help more people but couldn’t see any way to get off the wheel.
Fast forward to the present: Mary now see’s patients 2 days a week. Helps people, not just in Texas, but all over the world with her programs. Is currently making almost double what she was making last February!
Well done Mary!
How did she do it? One word: Webinars!
You see, the practice model of “seeing patients one at a time” that Mary was following and most ND’s follow, is a very limiting model. You can only see so many patients in a week before your schedule get full and you are working the maximum amount of hours that your body can handle, then you are done! You either have to raise your rates, hire more people, increase your overhead and your risk, or be happy with where you are at and know that’s as far as you can take it.
Or … look at a completely different model that can let you make money for your knowledge, not your time!
By marketing and sharing her knowledge, skills and treatment plans with webinars and well thought through programs, Mary was able to expand her reach far beyond her local area and help way more people in the process.
It’s a different model … a scale-able model!
You can see one patient at a time for an hour for $125 … do enough hours and you make a good living.
OR…
You have 25 patients on a webinar based program at $40 per session, and suddenly you are making $1,000 per hour … with no upward limit.
Sure it takes a lot of work to set it up, market it, get it working … but once it’s built it lets you scale your practice beyond your wildest dreams!
I spoke to Mary just last week … she said “Colm, I’ve never been so excited about where I am and where I’m going with my practice.”
It’s a choice folks … it’s your choice.
Keep doing what you’ve always done, or look at new practice models that let you scale!
