Today let’s explore what your ONE Solution is going to be.
Don’t worry, I’m not going to suggest a “one size fits all” approach to care. That would be nonsensical. As we all know, everyone is unique and each patient comes to you with different backgrounds, health history, lab results, dietary issues, goals, needs etc. So to even consider ONE Solution that is going to work for everyone goes against everything you know as a Naturopathic Doctor.
However…
Everyone does, or can, go through the same steps to get to the root cause of their symptoms and get their personalized care plan from you.
Also, let’s face it, if you see 10 patients with the same health issue or symptoms, 80-90% of the conversation you are going to have with each of them is the same. I’ve tested this with over 100 Naturopathic Doctors and proven it to be true over and over again.
Plus, if they have the same health issue, most of the supplements you are going to recommend for that health concern will be the same. Sure, some people may need extra or different supplements depending on their lab results, but there are certain supplements you might recommend to most patients who comes to you for the same health issue, right?
Note: I am not a doctor but have helped hundreds of NDs unpack and develop their signature solution. That said I am not going to go into the specific tests or health recommendations in the example below. That’s your department!
For example, if you decide to focus on women’s hormones as they approach perimenopause or menopause, your ONE Solution (Signature Solution) might be:

- Lab test 1
- Lab test 2
- Lab test 3
- Possible additional lab test for certain patients
- Step 3: Discovery of Findings Appointment & 30 Day Care Plan
- Detailed discussion of lab results & the root cause of your symptoms
- Your 30 day care plan including:
- Possible detox & cleanse
- Diet & Nutrition Plan
- Exercise Plan
- Supplements
- Possible hormone therapy
- Step 4: 30 Day Progress & Adjust Appointment
- Discuss your symptoms at 30 days
- Renew / adjust supplements
- Adjust your care plan as needed based on your progress
- Step 5: 60 Day Check-in Phone Call
- Step 6 90 Day Progress & Adjust Appointment
- Discuss your symptoms at 90 days
- Adjust your care plan as needed based on your progress
- If appropriate, maintenance care plan
- Address other health issues and goals
I can hear some of you thinking/saying, “but Colm, that’s pretty much what I do already!”
I know! That’s the beauty of it, there’s nothing new to create, it is simply packaging what you already do into a marketable solution AKA Your Signature Solution for (Hormone Balancing).
When you think through your process like that and describe it to patients, they see you have a proven system for a solution to their exact problem, it builds value, confidence, trust and they want to want to work with you.
The other huge benefit of laying out your solution like this is means you don’t have to reinvent the wheel and wing it with every patient, it’s a system that let you be way more efficient.
What you charge for your signature solution and how you deliver it, whether through one on one appointments, group in person appointments, online with telemedicine, group programs online, a mix of some of those methods are all valid options, but a subject for another day!
Hopefully this has helped you unpack your process and develop your ONE Solution for the ONE Problem that your chosen ONE Target Market is dealing with.
